In November 2020, Re Sustainability established a ground breaking 19.8 MW waste-to-energy (WTE) plant at our waste management facility in Jawaharnagar, Hyderabad. This plant, the first of its kind in South India, was the result of a successful collaboration between Re Sustainability, Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL), Telangana Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

These plants play a crucial role in addressing the waste management challenges in Hyderabad. By consuming 1,200 tonnes per day (TPD) of refuse-derived fuel (RDF), they not only generate electricity but also divert a significant amount of waste from landfills. This diversion is vital for minimizing the environmental impact of waste disposal and promoting a more sustainable approach.

In addition to generating electricity, the waste-to-energy plants at our facility contribute to the circular economy by converting waste into useful resources. They serve as an effective means of managing waste while maximizing the utilization of its energy potential.

As part of our commitment to sustainable development, we are also in the process of developing an additional 24 MW plant at the same site and a 15 MW plant in Dindigul. These upcoming plants will further contribute to waste diversion and electricity generation, making a positive impact on both the environment and the community.

By combining waste management and energy generation, these plants are instrumental in creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for Hyderabad, while reducing the burden on landfills and promoting efficient resource utilization.
